Part Numbers

Iveco 21341053,

0501.301.247,

DAF 18153348,

0501331678,

Fitted to

  • DAF Trucks: Used in next-generation XF and CF models, often paired with PACCAR MX engines.
  • MAN Truck & Bus: Employed in heavy-duty vehicles, specifically in the MAN TGX, TGS, TGM, and TGL series.
  • IVECO: Utilized in heavy-duty vehicles such as the Iveco Stralis and S-Way.
  • Mobile Cranes/Special Vehicles: Integrated into various Faun, Grove, and Liebherr crane models.

Common Issues

  • Stuck in Neutral/Gear Selection Failures: The most common symptom is the gearbox failing to shift or getting stuck in neutral, often accompanied by "Transmission Fault" warnings on the dash.

  • Gate Selector Faults: The gear selector unit may stop providing correct feedback to the TCU (Transmission Control Unit), causing the gearbox to lock in a fail-safe mode or neutral.

  • Solenoid and Valve Failures: The GS3 controller's solenoid valves are sensitive to contamination; lack of air system cleanliness can lead to oil residue/dirt blockage, resulting in failed shifts.

  • Contamination and Moisture: Moisture entering the control module can cause seals to swell and block the actuator pistons, leading to specific solenoid failure codes.

Fault Reporting

Diagnose your fault quickly

Accurate Diagnostics = Better, Faster ECU Remanufacturing

Providing clear and detailed fault information is one of the most important steps in the remanufacturing process. The more accurate the diagnostics, the faster we can identify the root cause, reduce turnaround times, and ensure a reliable repair.

To help us deliver the best possible results, please include the following information when sending your unit:

Fault Description

Give a clear, simple explanation of the issue as observed by you or your technician.

  • What is the vehicle or system doing?
  • What is it not doing that it should?

A concise description helps us quickly understand the symptoms and focus on the right areas.

When the Fault Occurs

Understanding when the issue happens is key to identifying patterns.

Please let us know if the fault appears:

  • During start-up
  • Only at operating temperature
  • In specific gears or modes
  • Under load or acceleration
  • Intermittently or consistently

This information allows us to replicate real-world conditions and pinpoint the cause more efficiently.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)

  • Include all fault codes retrieved using a diagnostic tool
  • These provide a vital starting point in identifying affected systems or components

DTCs combined with live data give us a much clearer picture than codes alone.

Live (Real-Time) Data

Where possible, include relevant readings from your diagnostic equipment, such as:

  • Battery and charging voltages
  • Sensor values (temperature, pressure, position, speed, etc.)
  • Actuator positions
  • Any readings that appear abnormal or out of range

Live data helps us verify faults, confirm component behaviour, and accurately reproduce the issue during testing.

Why This Matters

Accurate and detailed diagnostics allow us to:

  • Identify faults faster
  • Reduce unnecessary testing
  • Improve repair accuracy
  • Minimise turnaround time
  • Ensure long-term reliability of the ECU

If you’re unsure about any of the above, feel free to get in touch — our team is always happy to help.
