Frequently Asked Questions
The most common use for a battery booster pack is in engine starting either to assist the connected battery or as the sole supply for the vehicle electronics and starting. A battery booster pack has to be able to not only supply sufficient current to start the engine turning but to also keep cranking the vehicle engine until ignition / firing takes over. If the battery is completely flat then the Pack also has to be able to dump power into the flat battery in addition to cranking the engine.

Portable self contained battery booster packs go by many different names such as battery jump pack, battery jump starter, booster pack, engine jump start pack, jump start pack, jump starter, power pack or portable power packs. Because MAINS and portable self contained battery boosters tend to be lumped together the vehicle manufacturers issued various warning advising against the use of battery booster starters – what they really meant was DO NOT USE MAINS BOOSTER STARTERS. Portable self contained battery boosters such as KJC’s present no spike problem to the vehicle they are connected to.
A KJC Battery Booster Pack will not and are not capable of causing any damage to the on board electronics or any other systems on the vehicle that you are attempting to start.
• The KJC Power Pack System is in effect, just another 24 volt battery connected in parallel with the vehicle’s own existing 24 volt battery. It is a purely passive device unlike other systems such as alternators, mobile generators, mains powered booster systems or when jump starting from one vehicle to another. It is not connected to the mains (when being used), it is not producing any transient voltage spikes or any voltages higher than the 24 volts dc of the Pack’s own battery. When the leads are connected to the client vehicle, they are dead and do not become live until the Pack is actually switched on.
• KJC Power Pack Systems are controlled by sophisticated microprocessor control electronics operating at 5 volts dc and these electronics need to be protected from any adverse operating conditions such as voltage spikes etc. just as the electronics systems of the vehicle being started need protection. All our systems have protection circuits fitted including voltage spike snubbers and high speed transient voltage suppression devices that limit any short duration high voltage pulses/spikes that can potentially damage electronic systems. These circuits protect not only the vehicle’s own on board systems, but also the Power Pack itself.
• KJC were the first to bring a Professional 24 Volts Jump Start System to the Market in 1991 and we have never had any instance of damage being caused by our systems to a vehicle that our systems are starting. KJC design, develop, manufacture their packs here in the UK.
